Product Review: Joovy’s Caboose Stand-On Tandem Stroller

Pros:

  • Smaller and less bulky than traditional double strollers.
  • No need to carry double AND single stroller. Since my 4-year-old, Kaylee, goes to school on Tues/Thurs I was carrying around a lightweight single stroller AND the double stroller, OR having to switch them out depending on where we were going. This one is small enough to be a single stroller if needed. I took my 19-month-old, Brayden, to the mall the other day in it, and it didn’t look awkward not having a child in the back like it would have with the double stroller.

Milk Bands

Just saw this ad (on my own site, no less) and decided to check it out. They’re called Milk Bands and they are a bracelet that helps a nursing mom keep track of which side she last nursed on, how long the nursing was, and what time it was.

What an awesome invention for all the sleep-deprived moms out there who can never remember from one feeding to the next which breast to start with, or even when the baby last ate! I’m getting one for my pregnant friend and maybe even one for myself! Check it out…

Baby Gear - Nursing Gear

Nursing Wrap/Shawl/Sling: Until this baby came along, I nursed the old-fashioned way with a blanket. You’ve probably seen it before. The frustrated, struggling mom with a corner of a blanket in her mouth or under her chin as she tries to get a screaming baby latched on underneath all the while trying to be discreet and not show off all her stuff. Of course, she can’t see what she’s doing, and baby is kicking and flailing which causes it all to take 42 times longer than it ever should. By the time the baby is actually latched on, everyone is tense and mom is pouring sweat and cursing under her breath. Continue reading…

Baby Gear - Diaper Stuff

Diaper Pail: I personally got the Diaper Champ because it uses regular kitchen trash bags instead of the Diaper Genie’s special bags that you’re constantly having to re-buy. It winds up being much cheaper in the long run, and from all the reviews that I’ve read, the smell isn’t that much different.

Wipe Warmer: While these are not totally necessary, we enjoyed ours especially when the kids were really little and hated just being undressed, much less a cold wipey on their bottoms. No need to go fancy, just get the cheapest kind.

Diaper Bag: There are SOOOO many diaper bags out there that range from super cheap to SUPER expensive. So, how do you know which one will work for you? Continue reading…

Baby Gear - Dishes

So how many cute little plastic dishes, forks, spoons and sippy cups do you really need? Of course, you won’t need these until baby is eating solids around 6 months, but the real question is how often you want to be washing those same cute dishes… Continue reading…

Baby Gear - First Aid/Medicine

First Aid/Thermometer:
Do a kit that has it all in it. Then you don’t have to think about which thermometer to get, or which clippers are better than another. If you just get the kit that has it all, then you’ll have everything on hand. And as baby gets older and you determine, for instance, that these clippers don’t really work for you, you’ll have a better idea of what you really want to get. Plus, most of them come in a handy case to store everything in so you don’t have to search all over the house for what you’re looking for. Continue reading…

Baby Gear - Clothes/Towels/Blankets

For all you first time moms out there, it can be really overwhelming to know exactly what you really need and what you can do without. So, over the next few days, I’ll be writing several posts on what you ACTUALLY need for baby when he/she comes home. I was amazed at how little I knew when I had my first, and thanked God for a good friend that walked me through it all. Now, I get to return the favor! Continue reading…
