Baby Gear, General, New Baby, Product Reviews

For all you first time moms out there, it can be really overwhelming to know exactly what you really need and what you can do without. So, over the next few days, I’ll be writing several posts on what you ACTUALLY need for baby when he/she comes home. I was amazed at how little I knew when I had my first, and thanked God for a good friend that walked me through it all. Now, I get to return the favor!

Clothes/Towels/Blankets:
Obviously you need them all, but the rule of thumb about how many you need is all about laundry. Are you going to bathe your baby every single day of the week? Then you probably want 7 or 8 hooded towels so you’re not washing towels every couple of days. But, I found that I only needed 2 or 3.

Of course, the same number is NOT true about burp cloths – especially if they spit up as much as my son did. I went though those like crazy, sometimes 2-3 per day. Just register for a big pack of cloth diapers (usually come in a pack of 12). They work great, and they’re really absorbent, even if they aren’t so pretty. Save the pretty burp cloths for church and other special outings. :)

What I’m Up To Now…

Holy cow!! Great use of visuals to help explain the proposed budget cuts and their actual impact on the overall budget.

You’ll never fold tshirts the same way again!

If you ever wanted to hear someone put a mommy’s day into a song, try this one! (I guarantee you’ll laugh your butt off.)

A little on the political side, but interesting nonetheless…
